This little bakery has been in the business for 75 years. It doesn’t have the same decadence and expertise as Willow Cakes and Pastries, also in Niagara-on-the-Lake, but it does have an old-fashioned charm, and tasty baked goods with low prices. Situated on bustling Queen St., this shop is a relished icon filling up sweet tooths and serving hearty snacks to the hungry passers-by. To some, it is a welcome respite from the more flashy establishments on this strip.
Especially in winter, this place is great to warm up with a quick spinach pie or Cornish pasty. Traditional Scottish pies, Empires and Eccles Cakes, consistently draw the UK set. Butter tarts, squares and cookies- you name it- not all are fancy, but you get what you expect. A savory filled pastry and a butter tart make a quaint snack for a stroll down to the water to enjoy the picturesque view.
